It was a very anticipated trip due to the pandemic. One always dreams about places to visit, but when it comes to reality and you have to make a choice it becomes hard to pick as there are so many amazing places. My husband and I decided to go on a Greek Island cruise.
On May 12, 2022 we flew to Athens, Greece, which was the departure port. We stayed 2 nights in Athens to get a glimpse of this historic city. Our much-awaited cruise began on May 16th; we visited Kusadasi and Istanbul (Turkey), then Volos, Rhodes, and Santorini in Greece. Mykonos was supposed to be another port, but due to the weather it was closed. On this day we enjoyed the ship amenities.
The United Way prize was a blessing in our lives. We enjoyed every minute of our trip, walking and trying new things at each place, especially typical dishes. We didn’t have just one special dinner, but more than we can count! I cannot believe we walked up 586 steps in Santorini – we had lunch at one of the restaurants that had a great view of the Mediterranean. This was definitely a highlight of the trip. We also had a great time on the cruise, enjoyed specialty dinners and danced Latin music non-stop for 2 hours one night – I ended up with a blister on my foot!
