RELATIONSHIP MANAGER

Reports to: Vice-President, Development

United Way Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent, with its shared mission to ignite the desire in     everyone to improve lives and build strong communities, is a unified organization established to achieve greater regional impact by better serving the communities of Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.  We are committed to ensuring funds raised in each community remains in their community to support local needs and ensuring local residents’ voices remain strong.

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Relationship Manager you will have the opportunity to inspire and empower donors to join us in our mission. You will be responsible for establishing and strengthening relationships with employers, their influencers, and their employees within a portfolio of accounts, creating opportunities for donors to participate in and support the work of United Way. This position is also responsible for growing the segment of leadership donors ($1,200+) through high quality relationship building, cultivation and stewardship of donors and prospects.  The position requires year-round and multi-year planning and  the execution of a process designed to ensure consistent and evolving activity and gift acquisition.  The Relationship Manager will be responsible for donor prospecting and moving them through their donor journey, to support United Way fundraising in the Chatham Kent community.

FUNCTIONS

  • 50%    Working in-person or virtually to build relationships with workplaces and    
                consultative selling with donors and prospects.
  • 25%    Development and implementation of identified opportunities resulting from employer leadership and “influencer” meetings.
  • 15%    Planning and reporting with senior staff, volunteers, and other team members.
  • 10%    Administrative duties, including use of databases to capture donor data and to document notes and action items following meetings.

  • Cultivate and steward new and existing relationships using your exceptional interpersonal communication skills, positive attitude, and approachable “people person” personality
  • Recruit and train employees in workplaces to be our Workplace Champions and raise funds through employee giving campaigns
  • Tailor written and verbal communications to your target audience throughout their donor journey, discerning the level of detail and mannerism your donor will appreciate most
  • Undertake prospect research and identification, including engaging in continuous cultivation of new prospects
  • Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with individual supporters, offering consistent, personalized, and excellent stewardship
  • Develop, implement, and monitor donor relationships utilizing a “moves management” approach and maintain accurate relationship/donor records in CRM
  • Energize donors, volunteers, and all other audiences, demonstrating your passion for our work through your storytelling expertise and presentations
  • Use your consultative selling skills to actively listen to and identify donor needs, matching common interests and recognizing opportunities for cross-selling and growing new revenue streams
  • Bring donors to action with your results-oriented approach, thinking on your feet and applying your excellent judgment to make an appropriate ask and secure their commitment
  • Collaborate with the Brand & Experience team to plan, execute, and evaluate digital campaigns across channels, including email and social media

You also bring an ability to:

Technical Skills

In addition to the above, you are proficient in the use of the following technology:

  • Microsoft Office
    • Creating strategic plans, information sheets, and other documents
  • Microsoft Excel
    • Sorting and analyzing data from donors and digital channels
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Creating captivating presentations that move donors to action
  • Microsoft Publisher
    • Tailoring eye-catching marketing templates to your audience
  • Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams
    • Hosting interactive online meetings and webinars, making use of polling, breakout room, chat, and other functions to engage your audience
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Data management, analysis, reporting, and marketing campaigns

It’s also a plus if you have familiarity with:

  • Photo and/or video editing
  • Social media engagement (using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

Education

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma in any field
  • A certificate in fundraising will be considered an asset

Experience

  • 3 years in a relationship management, fundraising, or 5 years in a sales environment
  • United Way campaign experience as a volunteer will be considered an asset

POSITION TYPE

Permanent, full-time position, 35 hours per week. Medical/health benefits begin after successful completion of probationary period. Participation in our group pension plan after one year.

Working Conditions: Typically, at least 50% of time will be spent away from the office. The successful applicant will maintain a valid driver’s license and has access to own transportation. Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends is required.

MANAGER, COMMUNITY IMPACT

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the position is to assist with United Way’s community investment process, from engaging the community to understand its needs and developing an investment strategy for Chatham-Kent, to tracking and reporting on measures of success relating to United Way-funded strategies. The Manager, Community Impact will support the Community Impact Council in its oversight role and to act as resource to support funded partners ability to achieve impact on social issues.  Additionally, the Manager, Community Impact will support the Major Individual Giving program in cultivating and stewarding new and existing major gift donors and assist the Director, Major Gifts.

FUNCTIONS

  • 20%: Implement United Way’s community investment process in Chatham-Kent
  • 20%: Convene and engage the community to better understands its needs and how to best address them
  • 15% Monitor the impact of funded strategies, tracking and reporting on measures of success
  • 15%: Provide support to funded partners including problem-solving, accountability and relationship building
  • 15% Support major giving program with cultivation and stewardship of new and existing donor and assist Director, Major Giving in Chatham-Kent
  • 10% Support the Community Impact Council in its oversight role including grant writing, researching, reporting, etc.
  • 10%: Collaborate with CI team and provide cross-functional support to other departments, including resource development team, grant writing, product development, donor engagement, accountability reporting, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identification of trends in community service requirements by conducting needs analysis to proactively identify community needs   and to engage the community to better understand its needs and develop customized strategies and initiatives for United Way community investments
  • Assists with the implementation of United Way’s community investment process
  • Monitor the impact of United Way funded strategies and recommend changes in overall design and delivery to achieve impact
  • Support Marketing & Communication staff to enable reporting on the impact of United Way funded strategies to the donors, funders, and the community
  • Maintain a United Way database of existing service utilization, relevant demographics, population trends and social indicators
  • Act as a resource and support the Community Impact Council in its oversight role
  • Support the major giving program through assisting with cultivation of new donors, and stewarding them to ensure they understand the impact of their gift
  • Assist Director of Major Giving to support the major giving program in Chatham-Kent,
  • Assist with the fundraising efforts and the implementation of other activities in Chatham-Kent
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: University degree in social sciences or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise with an emphasis on community development, engagement
  • Preferred Experience: Individual with a minimum of two years’ experience in program evaluation and community granting
  • Working conditions:  Maintains a valid driver’s licence and has access to own transportation. Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Computer Experience: Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs, and program evaluation databases

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice-President, Brand Experience, the Manager, Marketing and Communications is responsible for supporting, promoting and enhancing United Way/Centraide’s public identity, brand knowledge, impact and role in the Chatham-Kent community in a way that results in increased donor and stakeholder affinity to and support of United Way. The Manager, Marketing and Communications will work as part of the Brand Experience team to lead and assist with several activities that align with the organization’s strategic priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides design support and develops content to communicate United Way’s impact through a variety of outlets, including the website, email, radio, print, and social media, and in support of events, the annual fundraising campaign, donor recognition and direct mail.
  • Develops a plan to target, engage and solicit donors through direct mail & email, and implements the process from conception to completion.
  • Provides support as needed for fundraising and engagement events.
  • Develops and implements a plan for blog posts on United Way’s website with internal staff to effectively communicate United Way’s impact.
  • Develops and assists with media advisories, media releases and media events, and supports the implementation of media buys and sponsorship agreements.
  • Monitors and tracks media coverage of United Way and its initiatives and maintains the media contact list.
  • Manages a variety of social media platforms including creating content, posting and monitoring public interactions. Tracks and analyzes user and engagement data on an on-going basis.
  • Works with the Community Impact department to effectively communicate impact through the development of impact stories, impact statements, photographs and provides support to ensure that funded partners are complying with branding requirements.
  • Keeps abreast of all trends in the marketing/communications industry
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: University or College graduate in business, marketing, communications or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of 3 years combined marketing/communications experience.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s licence and has access to own transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.

SKILLS
