John Toth Award honours dedicated United Way champion - Roger Dzugan

Windsor, ON – On Thursday June 15th, United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County in partnership with the Windsor & District Labour Council presented the 3rd Annual John Toth Community Champion Legacy Award to longtime United Way supporter Roger Dzugan.

Roger’s dedication, compassion, and natural disposition to help others embodies the spirit of the John Toth Community Champion Legacy award and enriches the lives of many in our community.

Retired since November 2011, Roger continues to champion United Way’s work serving as a member of the Retiree Volunteer Council (RVC) for eleven years and leading as the Chair for the last seven. As Chair, Roger has helped engage many retirees in the community through presentations, volunteerism, and active participation. Roger has been instrumental in RVC’s fundraising efforts in support of the On Track to Success program and leads RVC in supporting United Way’s new work with the Cradle to Career poverty reduction strategy.

“United Way is proud to present the John Toth Community Champion Legacy Award to Roger Dzugan, in partnership with the Windsor & District Labour Council,” said Lorraine Goddard, CEO, United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County. “Roger works tirelessly behind the scenes with an unceasing commitment to help others. Through his countless hours of volunteering, Roger has helped raise thousands of dollars to help provide support for low-income children and youth in our community. We are so pleased to be able to recognize his passion and devotion.”

The John Toth Community Champion Legacy Award is presented to an individual from the labour community or a community representative who has leveraged their strengths to inspire others and provide outstanding support for a local cause or resident(s). This award honours the memory of John Toth, former President of UNIFOR Local 195 and dedicated community advocate. A true champion of United Way for over 20 years, John’s unwavering leadership and support of those most vulnerable in our community will live on through this prestigious award.
