Release: Cradle to Career gets boost from Caesars Windsor Cares

April 4, 2023

Windsor, ON – The Ignite Academy Parent Engagement Program received a boost from Caesars Windsor Cares on Tuesday.

Caesars Windsor Cares is providing a corporate gift of $20,000 to support this important program. Parents and caregivers play a critical role in their child’s educational journey towards graduation and a successful future. Caesars Windsor Cares recognizes the importance of providing supports to parents and caregivers as they help their children navigate and pursue their education.

“We are proud to be a long-time partner with United Way, where we are able to spread our corporate investment further, to where the need is greatest. It is our honour to support their Cradle to Career program to increase a sense of belonging and connectedness among parents and strengthen our community,” said Kevin Laforet, President, Caesars Windsor.

“Thanks to the generosity of Caesars Windsor Cares, parents and caregivers of Ignite Academy students will be empowered with supports and strategies to help their child succeed at school,” says Lorraine Goddard, CEO at United Way. “They will be able to connect with other parents or caregivers and develop an invaluable support system when faced with similar challenges.”

Ignite Academy is a wrap-around support program delivered 4-days per week for elementary aged children in priority neighbourhoods. It provides a healthy meal, academic supports, mentoring, recreation, and system navigation supports for families. This targeted Parent Engagement programming will focus on West Windsor, Downtown Windsor and Leamington and include informal peer-to-peer engagement, formal social supports, and education and skill building. The goal is to create positive outcomes for the families by increasing contact, communication and trust between parents and caregivers and program staff.

We know that locally some kids are falling behind. The goal of Cradle to Career is to change the trajectory of local youth through education, the clearest pathway to success. The Ignite Academy Parent Engagement program is an important part of the overall Cradle to Career strategy. Every child deserves the chance to succeed.
