Position Summary

As the Relationship Manager, Workplace, you will have the opportunity to inspire and empower donors to join us in our mission. You will be responsible for establishing and strengthening relationships with employers, their influencers, and their employees within a portfolio of accounts, creating opportunities for donors to join us in realizing our Cradle to Career vision. Through recruitment and cultivation of Workplace Champions in your workplaces, you will generate financial contributions that support our work. Additionally, you will foster relationships with corporate leaders to understand their giving interests and tailor opportunities to deliver mutual value.

Functions

  • 50% Working in-person or virtually to build relationships with workplaces and consultative selling with donors.
  • 25% Development and implementation of identified opportunities resulting from employer leadership and “influencer” meetings.
  • 15% Planning and reporting with senior staff, volunteers, and other team members.
  • 10% Administrative duties, including use of databases to capture donor data and to document notes and action items following meetings.

  • Cultivate and steward new and existing relationships using your exceptional interpersonal communication skills, positive attitude, and approachable “people person” personality
  • Recruit and train employees in workplaces to be our Workplace Champions and raise funds through employee giving campaigns
  • Design and deliver compelling presentations to diverse audiences that inspire your audience to engage with United Way
  • Tailor written and verbal communications to your target audience throughout their donor journey, discerning the level of detail and mannerism your donor will appreciate most
  • Energize donors, volunteers, and all other audiences, demonstrating your passion for our work through your storytelling expertise
  • Use your consultative selling skills to actively listen to and identify donor needs, matching common interests and recognizing opportunities for cross-selling and growing new revenue streams
  • Bring donors to action with your results-oriented approach, thinking on your feet and applying your excellent judgment to make an appropriate ask and secure their commitment
  • Collaborate with the Brand & Experience team to plan, execute, and evaluate digital campaigns across channels, including email and social media
  • Apply your knowledge of fundraising principles to lead and motivate others, including workplace volunteers, to accomplish a common set of goals

You also bring an ability to:

Technical Skills

In addition to the above, you are proficient in the use of the following technology:

  • Microsoft Office: Creating strategic plans, information sheets, and other documents
  • Microsoft Excel: Sorting and analyzing data from donors and digital channels
  • Microsoft PowerPoint: Creating captivating presentations that move donors to action
  • Microsoft Publisher: Tailoring eye-catching marketing templates to your audience
  • Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams: Hosting interactive online meetings and webinars, making use of polling, breakout room, chat, and other functions to engage your audience
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Data management, analysis, reporting, and marketing campaigns

It’s also a plus if you have familiarity with:

  • Photo and/or video editing
  • Social media engagement (using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

Education

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma in any field
  • A certificate in fundraising will be considered an asset

Experience

  • 3 years in a relationship management, fundraising, or sales environment
  • United Way campaign experience as a volunteer will be considered an asset

Position Type

Permanent, full-time position, 35 hours per week. Medical/health benefits begin after successful completion of probationary period. Participation in our group pension plan after one year.

Working Conditions: Typically, at least 50% of time will be spent away from the office. The successful applicant will maintain a valid driver’s license and has access to own transportation. Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends is required.

Due to COVID-19, the successful applicant will have the option to work from home to complete the majority of their work duties until further notice.
