Windsor, ON – United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County and the Windsor & District Labour Council are hosting the 7th annual Tampon Tuesday event, celebrating International Women’s Day and creating awareness about an issue facing people who live in poverty.

Many people in our community struggle to purchase menstrual hygiene products for themselves or their dependents, and may have to go without, causing them to miss activities such as work or school. These products are one of the most requested yet least donated items at food banks and shelters.

Individuals, businesses, and community groups are invited to stop by Harbour House Waterfront Eatery for the Tampon Tuesday event to deliver donations of menstrual hygiene products. Attendees are invited to drop inside, mingle and enjoy complimentary appetizers or choose to drive-thru and drop off donations.

So far, 16 area high schools are also holding collection drives to support Tampon Tuesday. These products will be re-distributed to people in need through the Windsor-Essex Food Bank Association’s network of 15 organizations, food banks at St. Clair College and Harrow Community Pantry, Pozitive Pathways, Street Help, Hiatus House, United Way’s On Track to Success Program, and more.
