Summer Can Be the Hungriest Time of Year for Children
Locally, some families rely on school nutrition programs to help feed their children healthy meals. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many schools to close several times, making the need for food support even greater. Children need healthy food to grow and thrive, and that’s why we’re committed to ensuring that no child goes hungry in our community.
United Way’s Summer Eats for Kids program provides children and families in Windsor-Essex County with nutritious snacks, fruits, and vegetables during the summer months when school nutrition programs are closed. The program also offers books for children and families.
Summer Eats for Kids takes place during the summer but you can donate all year long.

Where is the Food Distributed?
The Summer Eats for Kids program offers a drive-thru pick-up service in the parking lots of empty schools. The program runs through July and August with the goal of delivering 500 food boxes weekly in West Windsor, Downtown Windsor, and Leamington.
Your Impact
This past summer, you helped us fill 3,600 food boxes for children. With your donation, you can improve a child’s nutrition, health, and educational success. Donations are welcome year-round.
