Windsor, ON – Another lucky winner has been selected to claim United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County’s Together We Dream 50/50 Draw prize and they've graciously donated their winnings back to the non-profit. United Way congratulates Carol and Graham Reader of Tecumseh, ON as the selected entrant of the grand prize jackpot.
Carol and Graham Reader held winning ticket #B-7805464 and they’re showing their local love by donating their $7,500 jackpot so more funds raised from the draw can be distributed to programs that support children and youth in Windsor-Essex County through United Way.
“I was so very thrilled, excited – gobsmacked - to win the 50/50, but especially because I wanted to give the prize back to help you further support the community,” says Carol Reader in an email to United Way. “Thank you for all the great work you do in the Windsor-Essex area.”
“Thank you to the Readers for their generous gesture, and to everyone who participated in the Together We Dream Draw so we can invest in programs that help kids be ready to learn, have the nutrition they need, and so we can offer wrap around supports so kids can thrive in and out of school,” says Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County. “The community’s support also helps us adapt local services to respond to new and emerging needs during this COVID-19 pandemic and into recovery.”
Proceeds from the draw will be invested into local programs and services including mental health counselling, the Windsor-Essex food bank network, helping family members with a disability, mentoring, online and in-person after school and tutoring programs, high school completion programs, and 211 Information Services.
United Way would also like to congratulate Jenn Doyle with ticket number B-3780128 on winning the Early Bird Draw jackpot of $1,000 on April 23, 2021.
Thank you to our generous media partners AM 800 CKLW and Windsor Star.
