June 11, 2018

Windsor, ON –Leadership Windsor-Essex (LWE), a program of United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County received an $8,000 grant from Union Gas to help support the development of community leaders.

LWE is one of 22 Leadership programs across Canada which aims to promote and encourage outstanding community leadership and active citizenship by developing participants' knowledge and skills of the issues that affect Windsor and Essex County. Those who understand its strengths and weaknesses and who are willing to make a personal investment to improve their community's quality of life become the strongest leaders.

The annual professional training program is designed to expand the number of individuals who are willing to take on leadership roles in business, government, and not-for-profit organizations and to equip them to meet future challenges in the community.

"Union Gas has – once again – displayed their commitment to Windsor-Essex County by investing in our current and future community leaders,” said Lorraine Goddard, CEO, United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County. “We are so grateful for their support of this program,” she added.

“At Union Gas, we believe a community belongs to everyone who lives there,” said Ben Townsend, field supervisor utility services, Union Gas. “We want to make life better for our families, our friends, and our neighbours. We’re proud to continue our support of and participation in the Leadership Windsor/Essex program, helping to develop the leadership capabilities of citizens who care about this community.”
