Mentoring Builds Confidence

September 27, 2021

“I had the opportunity to provide mentoring for a group of grade 10 On Track to Success students recently. I shared some confidence-building techniques intended to help with their search for summer jobs and with life in general. We did an interactive workshop allowing the students to practice how to make a good impression and exhibit confidence even when they feel nervous. I was thrilled to learn that one of the students used some of the techniques to overcome her shyness and not only speak with confidence, but also land a part-time job! This made me realize that my words of encouragement made a difference. We all have bits of knowledge that these kids are eager to learn. I feel absolutely great that I was able to help and the students are so grateful. It’s a win-win! ” – Janice Smith
