Volunteer Opportunities

Support student learning by providing academic guidance on assignments to ensure students stay on track in school and reach their goals. 

Support students in their social and emotional development through guided activities that improve soft skills, positive identity, and resilience – qualities that contribute to success in school and life.

Guide students on their journey to choose a career pathway. Help students explore different career opportunities in promising career sectors in Windsor-Essex.

Guide students on their journey from high school to post-secondary, providing advice and support to ensure their transition is successful.

Current Available Opportunities

Curriculum Facilitator – Ignite Academy 

Become a volunteer with Ignite Academy and help students in grades 2-7 improve their math and literacy skills. By providing enriching curriculum after school, curriculum facilitators will help improve outcomes for students at six different elementary schools across our community.  

Individuals with teaching experience are encouraged to apply. But anyone who is passionate about helping children learn will be accepted as we provide training and support to every interested candidate. 

Volunteer Curriculum Facilitators must be available at least 2 days a week (Mon – Thursday), afterschool for a two-hour time period between 2:30pm – 6pm, depending on the school.

Program Tutor – On Track to Success 

Become a volunteer tutor with On Track to Success and help students reach their academic potential! Help make a difference in a young person’s life by providing support with homework. Tutor students in core subjects you are experienced with such as Math, English, Science, French, Social Studies…and many more!  

Volunteer tutors must be available at least one day a week (Monday through Thursday), after-school between 2:00pm-5:00pm. Volunteer tutors must be 18+ years old.

Career Exploration Program Mentor 

Become a volunteer mentor with On Track to Success and help young people learn and develop their Social Emotional Learning skills! Volunteer mentors support youth by attending programming and sharing their perspectives, experiences, and knowledge related to academic and career pathways. Program activities involve peer socialization, soft skill building, sector spotlights, experiential and work-integrated learning, discussing career opportunities and career readiness.  

Volunteer mentors must be available to attend in-person programming on Tuesday evenings from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Volunteer mentors must be 18+ years old.

Post-Secondary Transition Program Mentor 

Become a volunteer mentor with On Track to Success and support grade 12 students transition into post-secondary education! Volunteer mentors will help students with resume building, communication skills, interview skills, applying to post-secondary school, and learning about financial aid, bursaries, and scholarship opportunities. Your help will ensure the grade 12s will transition successfully! 

Volunteer mentors must be current post-secondary, masters, apprenticeship, or trade certificate students or recent graduates. Volunteer mentors must be available on scheduled Thursday evenings from 5:00pm-7:00pm, online via Zoom.
