August 5, 2021

Windsor, ON – Thanks to local residents and donors, United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County is helping kids succeed in school and grow into healthy adults. On Thursday, United Way released its 2020-2021 Annual Impact Report to the Community, highlighting the progress that has been made to help local children overcome barriers to academic success.

2021 Annual Impact Report to the Community

“As we move toward the rebuilding stage of COVID-19, let’s not be too eager to go back to the way things were,” says Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County. “In Windsor-Essex, just like around the world, thousands of children and youth have been living in poverty or stuck without a path up the socio-economic ladder. Instead, let’s listen to individuals and leaders closer to the ground, support and scale their best ideas, and rebuild our society stronger than before. Let’s demand that national, corporate and civil society leaders re-examine the way they work individually and collectively, in order to empower people who know their communities best and can create sustained progress toward greater opportunity for all.”

“We are so grateful to all our donors and partners and volunteer. This important work would not be possible without the support of the broader community, and everyone who is committed to addressing #UNIGNORABLE issues and improving local lives,” says Goddard.

The Annual Impact Report highlights how United Way is supporting students during the pandemic, and helping them build life skills that will help them prosper in school and life. The report also shares how United Way is responding to the COVID-19 crisis by leveraging Federal supports, with a mission to help people in Windsor and Essex County who have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.
