POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Connector is an enthusiastic individual who assists in building relationships with residents, supports engagement efforts, and helps ensure that the Pathway to Potential Neighbourhoods Program is inclusive and reflects community needs. This role assists with mobilizing local leadership, strengthening social connections, and supporting resident-driven initiatives at the neighbourhood level.

Core Duties – You are someone who thrives in using their knowledge and skillset to do the following:
Resident Engagement & Outreach:
- Support the Team Lead and community partners in outreach efforts and engage with residents.
- Assist with door-to-door engagement, focus groups, and community meetings under the guidance of the Team Lead.
- Empower residents to take leadership roles in identifying and addressing local challenges.
Community Mobilization & Leadership Development: - Assist in outreach efforts for the Community Action Network (CAN) and provide logistical support for meetings and initiatives. Assist in the implementation of local events and outreach activities planned by the Team Lead, and partners.
- Provide hands-on guidance to residents on accessing local services and participating in programming.
Basic Administration & Evaluation Support: - Support the collection of resident feedback through surveys and information discussions.
- Assist with data collection and support the Team Lead in relaying insights to the Data and Evaluation Team.
- Assist in distributing marketing materials and sharing program updates via social media and community networks
Technical Skills
In addition to the above, you are proficient in the use of the following technology:
- Basic Computer & Tablet Proficiency:
- Ability to use a laptop, tablet, and smartphone for work-related tasks, including communication, data collection, and reporting
- Microsoft Office Suite:
- Word – Creating and editing outreach documents and engagement summaries.
- Excel – Data entry and tracking community engagement activities.
- Outlook – Managing emails, scheduling meetings, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Survey & Data Collection Tools:
- SurveyMonkey – Assisting with data collection and resident feedback tracking.
- Social Media & Community Engagement Platforms:
- Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X) – Sharing updates, promoting events, and engaging with residents.
- Canva – Designing simple flyers, social media graphics, and outreach materials.
- Virtual Meeting & Collaboration Tools:
- Zoom / Microsoft Teams – Participating in virtual meetings, and engagement sessions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma /post-secondary degree or equivalent is an asset but not required.
- Demonstrated experience in community-building and relationship development is most important.
- Lived experience in West Windsor, Downtown Windsor, or Leamington communities is highly valued.
- Experience engaging with residents, supporting community initiatives, or assisting with local programs.
- Comfortable building relationships and having conversations with diverse neighbours, organizations, and service providers.
- Experience in customer service, informal leadership, advocacy, or grassroots organizing.
- Familiarity with using social media or online platforms to share community information.
- A commitment to equity, inclusion, and ensuring all residents feel welcome and heard.
- Bilingualism or experience working with multilingual communities is an asset.
CONTRACT & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Contract Details:
- 12 Month Contract, with opportunity for annual renewal
- Part-Time, 21 hours per week
Working Environment:
- Work Model: This role is primarily in-person, with flexible scheduling based on program needs and virtual check-ins. Some evening and weekend work may be required, depending on community events and engagement opportunities.
- Travel Requirements: Candidates must have reliable access to transportation to attend work at designated locations. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the UWWECK travel policy.
- Background Check: A police clearance, including a vulnerable sector check, is mandatory for successful candidates. This process will be conducted in compliance with all relevant privacy laws to ensure the confidentiality and protection of personal information.
