Yes – United Way will continue to operate in the Chatham-Kent community. A unified United Way will produce a more efficient, effective and sustainable organization. The new, larger United Way will retain local identities and connections while accessing the benefits of a stronger brand, expanded staff team and a broader geographic focus that allows for sharper strategy in fundraising, community investments and programming. The unified United Way will be able to devote greater resources to providing evidence-based information to supporters and programs and will, ultimately, deliver a deeper impact with the communities of the region.
Yes, absolutely. We understand the importance of local support and the unique needs of each community. We want it to be very clear that all funds raised in Chatham-Kent will stay in Chatham-Kent and all funds raised in Windsor-Essex will stay in Windsor-Essex. We know it’s important that donors have the ability to choose which community they would like to support through United Way, and we will respect and honour that choice. We will continue to have local campaigns and local allocation committees. As we plan for our campaigns and allocation processes, we will be able to manage the resources required more effectively as a larger organization.
A key strength of the regionalization is the increased capacity of a new larger organization that will positively benefit the community. Regionalization will improve overall organizational capacity, while maintaining efficiency, for example where costs were previously incurred by each United Way such as technology and executive staff. These efficiencies will be automatic savings which will be invested directly into the community.
