Accessibility Statement

United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent is committed to providing an inclusive experience for all users. During an accessibility assessment, some parts of this website were identified as having accessibility concerns, dating back to its original construction. Based on these findings, significant accessibility updates have been made to ensure that the core experience is accessible to the widest possible audience.

Accessibility Standards

We aim to align our website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA wherever possible. These guidelines serve as a benchmark for creating accessible digital content and functionality.

Accessibility Efforts

Despite our upgrades to improve accessibility, there are some lingering issues which will be addressed during our next website redesign. We acknowledge the following challenges:

  1. The Carousel, found on some web pages, do not audibly announce live region content updates with each slide transition, and the updating slide action may interfere with some screen reader cursor positioning.
  2. The Expandable Menu in the top Banner region is keyboard operable, but lacks screen reader features for an optimal user experience.
  3. The Tab Panel, on some web pages, is not designed with accessibility interactive features, making the screen reader experience in understanding the content relationships challenging.
