The Volunteer Centre of United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County is one of 200 volunteer centres in Canada and provides the general public with opportunities for volunteering and information on issues facing the voluntary sector and training.

The Volunteer Centre takes a lead role in promoting volunteerism in Windsor and Essex County.

The Voluntary Sector Connector website (www.vsconnector.ca) is a gateway for people in Windsor and Essex County to access volunteer opportunity information and resources for the local voluntary sector. This website is maintained by the United Way Volunteer Centre and was recognized with the 2004 Showcase Ontario Award of Excellence by the Province of Ontario.

During National Volunteer Week, the Volunteer Centre promotes volunteering through Hearts that Light the Way Volunteer Awards Ceremony, which celebrates local volunteers in the Windsor-Essex County community. Drawing on the Volunteer in Youth, an art event promoting youth volunteerism, is also held during this week in cooperation with all school boards in Windsor-Essex County.

In partnership with St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology and in concert with the United Way's Centre for Training and Consulting in the Not for Profit Sector, the Volunteer Centre also provides certificate programs for current and prospective administrators of not for profit organizations.
