Who can be nominated?
Individuals, youth (24 years of age and under), groups, businesses or organizations can be nominated for contributions toward:

Positive youth development and strengthening families in Windsor and/or Essex County

Meeting the basic needs of Windsor Essex County residents and moving them towards greater independence

Leadership that inspires residents to participate in and contribute to improving their neighbourhood

The civic beautification of public spaces through visual, artistic or environmental improvements, resulting in beautiful shared spaces for the residents of Windsor or Essex County

New Category! Retiree Volunteer Award. Many retirees in our community volunteer. This new award category is designed to recognize voluntary efforts of a retiree who contributes to changing the lives of Windsor and/or Essex County residents. The retiree volunteer should be a dedicated volunteer who works quietly behind the scenes devoting their time and skills to help others.

Awards will be presented on April 23, 2013 by The Windsor Star and United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County, including the 'The Windsor Star - Civic Beautification Award in Memory of Bill Higgins'
