How We Help

There are two approaches to finding solutions to the issues that we face as a community. One, more familiar than the other, focuses solely on a community's needs, deficiencies and problems. The second approach begins with a clear commitment to discovering a community's capacities and assets and develops solutions by building on those assets. This latter approach is known as "Community Building."

United Way embraces the latter approach and works with the community to find solutions by building on existing strengths, maximizing existing resources, and supporting the development and enhancement of a strong, talented volunteer base in Windsor and Essex County.

Working with community organizations, local leaders, business, labour and government, United Way/Centraide strives to strengthen our community's capacity to address important human service issues by bringing together the necessary skills, resources, networks and knowledge.

United Way/Centraide makes a positive difference in the lives of people across Windsor and Essex County. With your support, United Way invests in more than 130 health and human service programs that are carefully reviewed through a citizen review process.

United Way/Centraide provides resources, both financial and non-financial, to support programs and services that improve the quality of life for people who live in Windsor and Essex County.
