2012 GenNext Youth Leadership Grant Program
GenNext is pleased to announce the 2012 recipients of its Youth Leadership Grant Program!  Grants of $2,500 each have been approved for the following initiatives:
AIDS Committee of Windsor (Young & Proud Youth Group)
The AIDS Committee of Windsor will be utilizing the grant to supports its Young and Proud Youth Group.  The goal of the group is to reach out to at-risk youth across Windsor and Essex County to engage and empower them to speak out and promote awareness regarding issues facing those who identify as LGBTIQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersexed and Queer).
Youth & Family Resource Network (Voices of Youth in Community)
Youth & Family Resource Network will be utilizing the grant to support Voices of Youth in Community, a youth leadership program for individuals aged 15 to 25, which aims to strengthen the community through education and social opportunities, and volunteer mentors.  The grant will be used to assist in the delivery of a two-day camp retreat at Camp Henry in Point Pelee National Park, where youth will be given an opportunity to develop understanding and acceptance skills, positive communication and coping skills relating to self-esteem.

The GenNext Youth Leadership Grant Program was created in an effort to cultivate the next generation of leaders by engaging local youth aged 14 to 25 in youth-led activities that:
  • Strengthen youth leadership skills
  • Increase opportunity for youth to develop creative approaches to issues affecting youth in Windsor and Essex County.
Applications to the 2012-2013 program have now closed.  Applications for next year's program will be available in Spring 2013.
