We believe that we have within us the power to forge our own destiny. Together we can transform Windsor-Essex County into our highest aspiration. The first step in forging our destiny is to develop a common vision that will provide the framework we need to achieve our highest aspirations.

In order for us to reach our highest aspirations, the input and effort of the Windsor-Essex County community is needed. Every member, every thought is important in the pursuit of Community Aspirations. Community Aspirations are common visions that provides framework for collective action. Communities with common aspirations can maximize resources, support complementary priorities, and achieve greater results. To obtain this framework we will engage in community conversation. Together, we will talk about our potential and our promise. Together, we will decide what our community will look like when we work together to improve it.

This is the time when Windsor-Essex County residents can dream about our future again. Community Aspirations will give us the shared direction we need to map our future. Hundreds of community members have already shared their vision as community members, it is important that your opinion is included. We invite you to share your vision and help map our community's future. These statements will be used to develop common goals for children and youth, individuals and families, persons with disabilities, and seniors.

Community Aspirations are brief, succinct statements that describe the best possible future for children and youth, person with disabilities, individuals and families, and seniors. The Community Aspirations process is funded as part of an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant, and facilitated by United Way / Centraide Windsor - Essex County.

Windsor-Essex County is going through dramatic changes and challenges. Population shifts, changes in demographics, and socio-economic challenges could end up leaving future generations a community that is a little poorer and a little meaner. To adapt to the local and global challenges, Windsor-Essex County must take responsibility for its destiny by defining what we aspire for children and youth, individuals & families, persons with disabilities, and seniors.

Together, we can achieve our aspirations. Together, we can change lives. Windsor-Essex County residents have a history of working together by giving their time, expertise and financial resources to help improve the quality of life in our community. Despite all the money raised and services provided, many problems in our community continue to grow. We know that our problems cannot be solved by one person, one agency, one company, or the government. We must remain true to our history of working together to achieve our Community Aspirations.
